Thamma Movie Review
There are some movies jo tab zyada hit karti hain jab aap already mentally thak chuke ho. Targets, reviews, pressure calls, aur woh endless “sir ek kaam tha” culture ke beech Thamma surprisingly works as a solid escape.
The movie starts strong. Proper Maddock style.
Jungle. Dense, mysterious, atmospheric.
Agar aapne Maddock Horror Universe follow kiya hai, toh ek cheez clear hai—yeh log jungles ko seriously lete hain. Stree ho, Bhediya ho ya ab Thamma—forest is not just a background, it’s a character.
Honestly, first few minutes Thamma movie review mein mujhe Temple Run wali feeling aa rahi thi.
That constant jungle run, chase, suspense.
And then it hit me—this movie feels less like a film and more like a story-rich video game.
Almost like:
- Assassin’s Creed ka dark arc
- Dying Light ka supernatural tension
I can’t help it—I used to be a gamer before I became a banker. Shayad isi liye yeh cinematic gameplay-type storytelling zyada connect kar gayi.
Yes, the movie has come on Amazon Prime after the cinemas. I watched it on OTT Amazon Prime with headphones on, so, I couldn’t help but notice that the OST (Official Sound Track) of Dying Light 2 game, seemd to be inspired from Thamma, or it was the other way round. Anyway, moving ahead.
Cinematic Feel & Supernatural Vibes
Moving ahead in our Thamma movie review, the theme is genuinely strong.
There are moments where the movie gives Morbius vibes—dark origin, internal conflict, supernatural transformation, controlled chaos.
And then comes the entry of Bhediya.
Let’s be practical. Maddock ke liye har movie mein same Bhediya generate karna easy nahi hoga—VFX, budget, continuity. So they’ve smartly modified the Bhediya here:
- More animated
- More powerful
- Slightly stylised
It works within the universe.
Now here’s an interesting observation (and a possible future hint):
Bhediya (Varun Dhawan) actually utters a few words while in Bhediya form.
This could be intentional world-building.
Future movies mein:
- Hulk-type broken sentences
- Mid-fight communication
- Alpha dominance dialogues
Very possible. Maddock is clearly planning long-term.
Thamma movie review: Baitals & Supernatural Politics
As a Vampire Diaries fan, one thing immediately clicked.
In supernatural lore:
- Vampires and Werewolves (Lycan / Leckens) are sworn enemies
So yes—Bhediya and Baitals being enemies makes complete sense.
Ayushmann Khurrana as the new Baital fits surprisingly well into this universe. His presence doesn’t feel forced; it feels like an expansion.
Well not a spoiler, but I liked how they integrated a little twilight inspired scene, where Edward carries Bella on his back. But the way Maddock Did it was amazing.
Love Interest Anxiety (Classic Maddock Trauma)
I’ll be honest—I spent most of the movie with fingers crossed.
Why?
Because Maddock Horror Universe ka ek pattern raha hai:
Love interest female characters usually don’t survive.
So when Thamma movie review saw, Rashmika Mandanna enters as the lead heroine and love interest, ek banker-type anxiety naturally aa jati hai:
“Please iss baar mat maarna.”
What happens next—
I won’t spoil it for you.
But yes, yeh tension poori movie chalti rehti hai, and that’s good writing. Aur, tension lena toh ab khoon me hai, banker hoon na.
Other Cast: Scene Stealers
- Nawazuddin Siddiqui is outstanding.
His dialogues are hilarious, sharp, and perfectly timed.
He brings that uncomfortable humour only Nawaz can pull off. - Prahlad Chacha (Panchayat fame) is there, and his accent is extremely likable.
Small role, big warmth. He grounds the madness.
Item Song, Nora & Power Twist
Yes… Nora Fatehi is back.
Yes… Kamariya girl energy is intact.
And yes… she has powers.
There is an item song, and it is sizzling, but not completely meaningless. Maddock usually keeps even glamour somewhat integrated into the universe—and they do that here as well.
Credit Scene Confusion in our Thamma movie review (But Not a Deal Breaker)
There is no post-credit scene, which felt slightly odd for a cinematic universe film.
However, there is a pre-credit scene that honestly felt like it was meant to be post-credit.
Editing mistake?
Highly unlikely.
Creative choice? Maybe.
Either way, universe-lovers will catch it.
Final Verdict of Thamma movie review: Why Bankers Should Watch Thamma
This is not just a horror-fantasy movie.
It is a mental reset button.
For bankers especially:
- It pulls you out of targets and pressure
- It doesn’t demand intellectual effort
- It gives immersive escape without being stupid
The way Maddock is introducing supernatural cinema on the big screen is probably the most decent and consistent India has managed so far.
Yes, Go Goa Gone did zombies earlier—but Maddock is building something far more structured.
Should You Watch It after our Thamma movie review?
Yes. Thamma movie review says, Definitely.
Watch it:
- On a weekend
- Without office calls
- Preferably when you’re mentally drained
It won’t change your life, but it will take your mind off good-for-nothing pressure and targets—and sometimes, that is more than enough.
And banker to banker, just imagine your Regional Head / Zonal Head starts VCs and shouting “Raktrambhaaa….. and we all reply by shouting Sasakthrambha”
Imaging how much fun would that be… comment below. and Enjoy..!!
